Lame travel sketches

Last week I came back from a 14-day stay in my hometown of Kailua (Hawaii) which meant a 8+ hour flight each way (out of Atlanta). I was pretty busy on the actual trip but did manage to get some doodling in while flying. It's a little sad that I only have a few pages to show for all that travel, but they had movies lined up and stuff and sitting in that cramped little space with that prison food and stuffy air isn't very inspiring.

Just a little post to welcome all the new people that have joined in the last week or so. If you feel like it, drop a line here and tell us a bit about yourself: where you're from, what brought you here, what you artistic inclinations are, and so on.

Stickers are in

1/2" x 2" on sticky vinyl

I actually made these up myself from some spare materials we had lying around at the print shop I work at. I've got about 100 or so of them, but I can always make more. Drop me a PM with your mailing info if you want a few.

Oh yeah, and like an idiot I forgot to put the URL on em, so they're more for persona… Continue

Stickers anyone?

Hey everybody...

Just wondering if you'd all be up for having some stickers with the artbook coalition logo on em. They'd probably be 1"x2" or so. If you're interested let me know by leaving a comment here. I've got a pretty good deal on getting about 250 made up, just wondering if you'd all use em.

Cheers.

Word of mouth?

I think it's just fascinating how people have found this site. I really haven't promoted it much apart from tagging some images on my Flickr and doing little shout-outs on my other blogs, which means that the others who've joined have stumbled on it by accident. And I kind of like that. For one thing, I don't have the time to manage a site with that many members, and for another, it's nice to let this take a really natural course. I imagine that art… Continue

I shouldn't have spent that money

But I don't regret it.

I got a new sketchbook and a journal to replace the one that I lost in Japan. It's really sad that there's now this 3 month gap in my life where nothing has been recorded. Do you realize that every day of my life has been documented since I was 10? At this point, I don't think I could ever stop journal writing.

But yeah, sketchbook too. Borders has them really cheap. It's a fatty, so I'm thinking 20+ artists can get on the list. I'm starting tonight, even… Continue

This is the most impulsive thing...

It really is.

I mean, I've known about collaborative sketchbooks for awhile now - I remember hanging out with friends where we'd just pass around a book a take turns adding to each others' drawings. But to build a community on a whim like this is crazy! I've got an addiction to this sort of thing - starting projects and seeing where they lead. But I think this will really be fun, to just see what my artistic friends come up with and create something as epic as this. And I think it'll b… Continue
